An old story, but local and always relevent:
On March 28, 2005, a woman from Kansas City, Missouri drove into the parking lot of a car wash on Independence Ave. to clean her vehicle. She got out of her car to find two men approaching. One of the men revealed a gun and told her to give up her keys.
The woman reached for her keys as instructed, but pulled out the pepper spray on her key chain and sprayed the two men. The men backed off and she was able to escape without harm. While we do not suggest using pepper spray in cases where the aggressor is holding a lethal weapon such as a gun, we do recognize that some people have been able to escape the most difficult situations using their pepper spray key chains.
The woman was quoted by KCTV5 news: "Thank God. This is something that saved my life, and it could save any woman's life."
